Posted: 09/02/2022

Members of the commercial property team at Penningtons Manches Cooper acted on behalf of real estate developers Fortitudo Limited in relation to the acquisition of a new development site in Bournemouth.

Fortitudo’s Planning Application sets out plans for a £200 million redevelopment project in the centre of the coastal town, encompassing residential, hotel, and leisure use. The new development will include 350 apartments for rent and 250 for sale, a nightclub, a 10-pin bowling centre, a cinema, and 15,000 sq ft of bars and restaurants, as well as a 104-bedroom hotel and a 600-capacity multi-storey car park.

Led by real estate partner Simon Knott, with assistance from senior associate Laura Gorman and Dominique Sabatini, the firm has advised Fortitudo from the acquisition stage of the project onwards, providing support on various matters over the past 14 months.

It is hoped that planning permission will be granted this year, after which the focus of the firm’s work will shift to advising on the development and ultimately sales and lettings and at this point members of the construction team, banking team and residential team are expected to become involved.

Simon Knott commented: “This is a very substantial scheme which will deliver much needed housing and first class facilitates to the local area. We are delighted to be involved with the project and look forward to working closely with Fortitudo to deliver it.”
