Colin has a formidable reputation for all forms of trusts and cross-border estates. He specialises in the fields of will drafting and estate planning, the creation of trust structures for both UK and international clients, agricultural estates, charity law and Court of Protection work. He also handles Inheritance Act and probate actions and is a trustee of a number of charities and a vice president of St Christopher’s Hospice.
He is a founder member of STEP, the world's leading organisation for private wealth professionals, initiated the first STEP Special Interest Group and was the first chairman of London central branch for ten years. In December 2012, STEP presented Colin with a Founder Award, made to members who have contributed above and beyond what could be reasonably be asked of them. He is also a member of the Private Client Section of the Law Society.
Colin writes on tax and estate matters and is a contributor and joint consulting editor of Tolley’s ‘Finance and Law for the Elderly’. He has also been co-writer of the most recent edition of Ranking, Spicer & Pegler’s ‘Executorship Law, Trusts and Accounts’. He is listed as a notable practitioner in Chambers UK 2014 and is described as having ‘a great bedside manner – clients feel very secure dealing with him and what he doesn't know about the field isn't worth knowing’.
