Varied perspectives help us to build constructive working relationships.
Laura is an international tax and trust specialist with particular expertise in working with US issues and corporate wealth structuring. Her focus is on providing commercial, but also tailored and sensitive answers to how best to steward family wealth in often complex circumstances – whether these are due to family issues or the assets involved. This might be as straightforward as putting in place an appropriate will to help the transition to the next generation in a tax-efficient manner or include brokering an agreement on corporate held family wealth, negotiating the complexities involved in tax, and structuring advice when people move, relationships break down or assets are transferred and international borders are crossed in the process.
After beginning her career at the London office of a leading international law firm, Laura qualifed in 2000 and joined Penningtons’ Surrey private client team in 2002, becoming head of team in 2012. She has recently returned to the City as a member of Penningtons Manches’ expanding London private client team. She is personally rated in Chambers UK, where she is described as ‘highly knowledgeable with a friendly personality that puts clients at ease’, and in The Legal 500 which praises ‘her strong technical advice’.
A member of STEP, the world's leading organisation for private wealth professionals, Laura is a regular speaker on the conference platforms aimed at key players in the private client field, both in the UK and abroad. She edits a core text book and is a contributor to Practical Law's Private Client Guide 2014/15, which outlines the UK system for international private client lawyers. She is also listed as a leading private client lawyer by Citywealth’s guide to the most highly regarded figures in private wealth management.
