Profile

Anthea is a partner in the employment team in London. She advises on a range of contentious and non-contentious employment matters, and has particular expertise in discrimination, whistleblowing claims and regulatory issues.

Acting in tribunal, county court and High Court litigation, she represents clients from a wide range of industry sectors, including banking, legal, publishing, the civil service and the public sector. She regularly assists staff associations and trade unions on all aspects of employment law, including regulatory issues and internal policies and procedures. She also provides guidance to their members.

Anthea develops open and honest relationships with her clients who value her supportive and positive approach. She sits on the Employment Lawyers’ Association training committee and regularly delivers workshops and training to clients and contacts. She qualified in 2004 and joined Penningtons Manches in 2017 from another leading City law firm where she had worked for 13 years.

Recent work highlights

  • Acting in a ground-breaking Court of Appeal decision concerning overtime payments for police officers and subsequently advising hundreds of other officers with similar claims.
  • Successfully representing the claimant in the Employment Appeal Tribunal case of the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis v Keohane which concerned direct pregnancy and indirect sex discrimination.
  • Bringing a judicial review in relation to a complaint brought against the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
  • Representing institutional clients and unions and their members over many years, including the Police Federation.
