Five new partners announced in Penningtons Manches’ 2018 promotions round

Penningtons Manches has announced five new partner and two associate director promotions with effect from 6 April 2018, bringing the total number of partners in the firm to 109.

Spanning the firm’s private wealth, real estate and CDR teams, the newly appointed partners and associate directors are: 

Partners:

Tony Burns - real estate
Lucy Edwards – private client
Edward Floyd – family
Henrietta Mason – contentious private client
Ben Robinson – real estate litigation

Associate directors:

Clare Arthurs – commercial dispute resolution
Tarnya Pilgrim – real estate 

Tony Burns acts for a number of property companies, developers and owner occupiers and deals with all aspects of commercial property work including investment portfolio acquisitions and disposals, commercial leases, acting for both landlord and tenant. He has particular experience in development work.

Lucy Edwards has been with the firm since 2009 and her work focuses on wealth and succession planning for UK and international families. She was named as one of eprivateclient's 'Top 35 Under 35' and received the gold award in the 'Lawyer of the Year - Associate' category at the Citywealth Future Leaders Awards in 2016. A recommended lawyer in The Legal 500 2017 and an active member of STEP, Lucy was also an award winner at the Citywealth Magic Circle Awards 2015 and features in its Leaders List and Future Leaders 100 List for 2017.

Having trained and qualified in the firm’s well-regarded family team, Edward Floyd has a growing reputation in high value divorce. He was named ‘Associate to Watch’ in this year’s Chambers HNW guide and has also been marked out as a ‘Rising Star’ in the Spear's 500 guide, where he is described as having been “lauded by leading silks as ‘head and shoulders’ above peers.” Edward was recently invited to speak at an IAFL young lawyers’ conference in Moscow, and has also participated in international conferences in New York and Warsaw and co-authored the England & Wales chapter of Thomson Reuters’ Family Law: A Global Guide (2018).

Henrietta Mason advises on all aspects of contentious trusts and succession. She features in the Citywealth Leaders List and is listed as a ‘Next Generation Lawyer’ in The Legal 500. She is co-author of Probate Disputes and Remedies, a member of the Law Society Wills and Equity Committee, and has served as Vice President of the Private Client Committee in both the American Bar Association Section of International Law and the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA).

Ben Robinson represents a range of clients including landlords, tenants and developers. He provides comprehensive advice on residential property issues to include rent and service charge disputes in the First Tier Tribunal, enfranchisements claims, party wall claims, boundary disputes and adverse possession claims. He also specialises in property related professional negligence claims and vacant possession strategies for large scale development sites. 

Formerly a commercial litigator, Clare Arthurs has been a knowledge lawyer / senior knowledge lawyer in the commercial dispute resolution team for 10 years. She is an established author and columnist in the legal press, and has been a member of the firm’s central knowledge team since its inception. 

Tarnya Pilgrim joined Penningtons Manches in 2010 as a real estate knowledge lawyer. She provides insight on legal and technological developments affecting the real estate industry and uses knowledge management, document automation and technology to redesign processes and systems to be leaner, more efficient and more profitable. She advises Estates Gazette on legal content and sits on the editorial board of Landlord & Tenant Review

The promotions round also included 11 associates who were made up to senior associates.
