Successful restoration to the register

Mr L had been removed from the register of a large UK regulator in March 2004 following a hearing in relation to numerous allegations that he had allowed and encouraged members of staff at his practice to undertake clinical procedures when they were prohibited by statute from doing so.

At the time Mr L had been the principal of the practice and had taught members of staff how to undertake various procedures and then left them to their own devices. The allegations spanned a period between 1998 and 2002 and came to light when a member of staff reported the registrant to the regulator.

In September 2012, Mr L applied for restoration to the register and submitted numerous testimonials, references, letters and continuing professional development certificates to the disciplinary committee to support his case.

The committee directed that sufficient time had passed and that his name should be restored to the register. Nicole Curtis appeared before the committee representing the regulator, which remained neutral in relation to the application.
