injury work. Other sources of funding include Conditional Fee (no win

WHO ARE WE? The Penningtons’ personal injury team is based in two offices – Godalming and Basingstoke - although we see clients in our London office and at home or in hospital. We are a specialised team with extensive experience of personal injury claims ranging from straightforward road traffic accidents to high value complex brain and spinal injury claims. Within the team individuals specialise in certain areas of injury work – we have specialists in spinal injury cases, brain injury cases, accidents and injury at work and foreign travel claims. This ensures that the person dealing with your claim has a full understanding of the issues involved and the problems faced by individual clients. Details of the individuals specialising in personal injury work are set out below. Each case will be discussed with one of our partners who will consider the background to your potential claim, provide initial advice and advise you about the funding options and practical steps to be taken. Your claim will be handled by the person best placed to handle it in terms of experience and capacity. That person will deal with your claim throughout to enable a full understanding of your case and to build a good solicitor-client relationship. Other more junior members of the team may assist on occasions but you will always know who is involved. In addition one of our partners will remain closely involved in your case, particularly in any decisions that need to be made, and will regularly review progress to ensure that your claim remains on track. Personal Injury claims require considerable expertise and therefore your case will often involve other specialists acting for you as well. We will nearly always need to obtain medical report(s) dealing with your injury and in some cases may also need other expert evidence e.g. in the fields of accident reconstruction, engineering, health and safety etc. We have access to a network of such experts who are very experienced, both in their field and in preparing such reports. We have built good working relationships with the experts we use. We also often use experts in rehabilitation and care to provide detailed reports dealing with an individual’s requirements as a result of their injuries. Accountants and employment consultants are often involved to look at losses that an individual may have sustained. Many cases also require input from a specialist barrister. Again we use barristers that we know and who also specialise in personal injury litigation. In each case we will take time to choose the best possible experts and barrister to build a strong team to advise you throughout the case. All of our solicitors have been on medical courses. We have solicitors who are members of the Law Society Personal Injury panel, the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and on the referral panels of national charities supporting those who are injured – such as Headway and the Spinal Injuries Association.
