1. Penningtons is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. This privacy policy explains how we use the information we collect about you, how you can instruct us if you prefer to limit the use of that information and the procedures that we have in place to safeguard your privacy.

2. In relation to all your personal data we will observe our obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Data Protection Principles.

3. When you contact us through the clinical negligence feedback form on our website, we need to know your name, date of birth, postal address, and telephone number. We also need to know how you would like us to contact you, whether you are able to travel, details of your potential claim, the dates of your treatment, the treating hospital, what you think went wrong, the likely prognosis and your current condition.

4. When you contact us through our online conveyancing services, we need to know your name, telephone number, your current address, and how you would like us to contact you. We also need to know the address of the property purchase or property sale, whether the property is freehold or leasehold, the price of the property, and how you would like us to contact you.

5. When you contact us through the Recruitment section of our website or through the general contact / feedback form, we only collect your name, postal and e-mail address and certain other information requested in those forms or which you otherwise provide to us.

6. If you notify us by e-mail or other written communication that any of the information which we hold about you is incorrect or misleading, we will take prompt action to correct or amend the information. You may do this by sending an e-mail to information@penningtons.co.uk.

7. We undertake to keep information about you confidential and in a way which does not enable you to be identified from the information displayed on our Site.

8.1 if collected through the clinical negligence feedback form or through our on-line conveyancing services, for the purpose of providing legal services;

8.2 if collected through the general contact/feedback form, the clinical negligence feedback form or the on-line conveyancing services form and you have so agreed, for the purpose of sending you information about legal developments, the firm's services, and events which may be of interest to you;

8.3 if collected through the Recruitment section of the website, for the purpose of communicating with you about recruitment to Penningtons and Penningtons' Open Days and Summer Placements.

Except as explained below, we will not use your personal data for any other purpose.

9. We may be forced to disclose information by the government or other law enforcement agencies or in connection with the investigation of unlawful activities. Third parties may also unlawfully intercept or access transmission or private communications. These therefore are exceptions to our policy of maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of your personal information.

10. If our business is sold, transferred or merged with another business, your details may be disclosed to our advisers and any prospective purchasers and their advisers and will be passed on to the new owners of the business.

11. The Internet is not a secure medium. However, our website is hosted by a Service Provider's on a server which is in a physically secure location and protected by a firewall. Access to the site is on a very restricted basis, protected by use of passwords.

12. We do not use cookies on our website.

We will also e-mail you should we make any changes so that you may consent to our use of your information in that way. Continued use of the service will signify that you agree to any such changes. Owing to the global nature of the Internet infrastructure, the information you provide may be transferred to countries outside the European Economic Area that do not have similar protection in place regarding your personal data and its use as set out in this policy.
