Profile

Ben is a senior associate in the commercial dispute resolution team in London, specialising in the resolution of complex disputes. He has experience of working with a broad range of clients, including listed companies, SMEs, and high net worth individuals, as well as public and third sector bodies. Ben has also acted for clients across a variety of sectors including the technology, sport and entertainment, financial services, retail, manufacturing, and logistics industries.

 

His experience encompasses contractual disputes, misuse of confidential information, data protection, intellectual property infringement, company law, and professional negligence. Ben also has expertise in reputation management, with experience of proceedings involving defamation, privacy and harassment. He aims to achieve the earliest possible resolution of his clients’ disputes, making use of mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. He also has experience of managing cases to a successful outcome at trial where necessary.

 

Ben read law at the University of Oxford and studied the Legal Practice Course at the University of the West of England.

  • Acted on various sponsorship-related disputes in the sports sector, including in relation to the sponsorship of football clubs and of international sporting events.
  • Advised on various cases in the film and TV, music, theatre, and publishing industries involving disputes with talent, producers, agents, and publishers.
  • Advised on various cases involving the ownership of, and other rights relating to, computer software, including allegations of copyright infringement, breach of confidence and database rights.
  • Assisted with a high-value case in the financial services industry, acting for a prime of prime broker in a case involving the breach of an exclusivity agreement relating to the trading of foreign exchange and index swap products.
  • Acted for the respondents to an unfair prejudice petition, which included successfully resisting an application for an interim injunction which would have restrained the completion of a high-value corporate transaction.
