Profile

Tony is an experienced real estate lawyer who joined the Guildford office in 2015 having worked with a City firm for many years. He acts for a number of property companies, developers and owner occupiers and deals with all aspects of commercial property work including investment portfolio acquisitions and disposals, commercial leases, acting for both landlord and tenant, and all related documentation. 

He has particular experience in development work and specialises in advising on deal structures to enable the acquisition subsequent development and disposal of sites, including any overage arrangements.

Tony also has experience of energy related transactions such as leases and sales of power stations, and energy from waste plants, and related documentation.

Recent work highlights

  • Assisting with a sale of land subject to power station lease at Marchwood to a fund, at a consideration of approximately £30 million.
  • Dealing with site acquisition, all lettings, and then subsequent sale of fully let prime industrial park in Southampton to a fund for circa £43 million.
  • Acting on a development funding agreement with a fund for the development of a large industrial unit in Liverpool following receipt of planning and subsequent land transfer; the fund also acquiring a completed investment of an adjoining building. Total consideration approximately £22 million.
  • Acting for the landowner in connection with an agreement for lease and lease of land in Birmingham with the benefit of planning permission for an energy from waste plant at a substantial rent, subject to the tenant obtaining debt finance for the construction; all related documentation such as option and lease of related carbon capture storage plant.
