Clare is a partner in the London private client team which is recognised by The Legal 500 as 'one of the best in the field' while she is described as having ‘a wonderful mixture of technical excellence and warm personality'. She qualified in 1994 and was a partner with Rooks Rider solicitors for nearly eight years before joining Penningtons Manches in 2011.
She advises on a heavy caseload of capital tax planning, the administration of complex and large estates, will and trust drafting, and a wide range of asset protection and equity work, particularly for business owners and elderly clients with capacity issues. She has also developed a particular interest in family office work through her role as a trusted advisor to a number of high net worth families.
Clare is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and chairs the editorial board for the England and Wales and UK entries for the International Yearbook. She also writes the probate section of the STEP handbook. She was a panel deputy of the Office of the Public Guardian for many years and is also a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists. A regular speaker to fellow professionals on tax, trust, estate planning issues and family office matters, Clare also writes for various legal publications and, in conjunction with STEP and Globe Law and Business, she is Editor in Chief of a new book on family offices.
