Penningtons Manches data protection expert receives prestigious ITechLaw appointment

Joanne Vengadesan, a partner in Penningtons Manches’ commercial team, who specialises in technology transactions and data protection, has been appointed co-chair of the ITechLaw data protection committee. Working alongside fellow co-chair Laura Liguori of Italian-based law firm Portolano Cavallo, Joanne will be responsible for leading ITechLaw’s international dialogue on data protection.

ITechLaw is a not-for-profit organisation established to inform and educate lawyers on the latest developments in information and communications technology law. Established in 1971, it is one of the largest associations of its kind with members in more than 60 countries, reflecting a broad spectrum of expertise.

The ITechLaw data protection committee focuses on global technology law issues surrounding data protection and privacy, and monitors international legal developments and legislation. One of its key priorities over the year ahead will be enhancing engagement and networking opportunities for members specialising in this field.

Joanne and the Penningtons Manches data protection team are currently advising numerous clients on data protection compliance in readiness for the General Data Protection Regulation which comes into force in the UK in May 2018.
