The Legal 500, described as the definitive guide to the legal market, has renewed its applause for lawyers across Penningtons Manches in its 2016 edition which has been published this week. There have been recommendations for 57 practice areas at the firm as well as for 89 solicitors individually while overall Penningtons Manches has been named as one of the top four firms in the South East for tier one listings.

This year’s publication has recognised the firm as a top tier practice in 14 areas, spanning clinical negligence, commercial litigation, commercial property, corporate, education, employment, environment, family, immigration, intellectual property, IT and telecoms and professional discipline advice. Other teams which secured particularly positive reviews from the directory’s researchers included the banking and finance, Court of Protection, pensions, personal injury, private client, property litigation and social housing teams.

Echoing last year’s tally, 15 lawyers from different parts of the firm were mentioned in the elite ‘leading lawyers’ list, The Legal 500’s guide to outstanding lawyers nationwide. Hilary Aldred (employment), Julie Burton (Court of Protection), Rebecca Carlyon (family), Warren Collins (personal injury), Jane Craig (family), Nicole Curtis (professional discipline), Helen Drayton (banking and finance), Jane Mitchell (family), Daff Richardson (education), Chris Shelley (intellectual property), Richard Smith (environment), James Stewart (family), Alison Talbot (education) and Anna Worwood (family) all achieved this prestigious ranking.

Client feedback within the commentary acknowledges Penningtons Manches as ‘a very capable firm’ that provides ‘consistent and comprehensive advice’, ‘excellent service’, a ‘wealth of knowledge’ and ‘substantial resources’. The directory also notes that Penningtons Manches has ‘a strong track record of seeking innovative solutions on behalf of clients’ and ‘stands out for its professional acumen’.

The Legal 500 is aimed at buyers of legal services, particularly general/corporate counsel. Published annually, it is produced by a team of researchers who collate both client and competitor feedback before classifying firms according to location and practice area. Rankings are based purely on merit, reflecting the views passed to the directory during this research process.
