London and South East law firm Penningtons Solicitors LLP has advised Link Microtek, an internationally recognised electronic engineering company, which has its headquarters in Basingstoke, on its purchase of Southampton based infra-red communications systems specialist Azdec Limited.

Link designs, manufactures and distributes microwave, radiofrequency and optical equipment worldwide and specialises particularly in the defence, industrial and telecommunications sectors. Link's expansion into the field of specialist infra-red communication equipment through the acquisition of Azdec allows it to consolidate its position as a worldwide supplier of general and specialist electronics components and instruments. Link is already recognised as one of the UK's leading suppliers of safety instrumentation products. As part of the sale, the founding managers of Azdec, Anton Domone and Zygmunt Czapran, will continue to take an active role in the business, ensuring a smooth transition of ownership.

Penningtons' business services team, led by partner Charles Brooks, who is based at Penningtons' Basingstoke office, advised Link Microtek on all corporate, employment and property aspects of the purchase, working closely with Lane Monnington Welton, the firm's accountant to implement the transaction. Charles said: "It was rewarding to be able to contribute to the ongoing strategic development of this well respected company which, like Penningtons, has a strong presence in the Basingstoke business community."
