Penningtons advises leading trust for children with cerebral palsy on the expansion of its services

20/10/2010
London and South East law firm Penningtons Solicitors LLP has advised The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy, a nationally recognised organisation for the care of disabled children, on its takeover of the Suffolk School for Parents.

The Dame Vera Lynn Trust provides specialist support services for families of young children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities from Sussex, Kent, Surrey, Essex, Middlesex, Berkshire, Suffolk and the London Boroughs. For some years the Trust has helped children and their parents/carers learn daily living skills together at its School for Parents in Five Oaks, West Sussex. In October 2010, it took over the operation of the Suffolk School for Parents, a similar school based in Sproughton, near Ipswich, in a move which will allow it to develop the vital work provided to children and their families at both schools.

Penningtons' corporate and commercial property teams, headed by Charles Brooks, advised The Dame Vera Lynn Trust on all aspects of the transaction including the transfer of the school's assets and the negotiation of a new lease of the school premises. Commenting on the successful completion of the merger, Charles Brooks said: "We are delighted to have been able to assist the Trust with its expansion, which will further strengthen its invaluable support to families of children with special needs."

Steve Lane, Executive Manager of the Trust, commented: "Penningtons provided the Trust with specialist advice on a range of subjects which ensured a smooth transaction. I would like to thank the team for all their support."
