Penningtons partner examines reaction of UK businesses to immigration debate

A substantial amount of media attention is currently being focused on the government's new points based system - the Migration Advisory Committe has today published its report on how the new legislation will work for tier 2 category migrants and their dependants.

Many leading UK firms from a variety of sectors have however expressed concerns over the unexpected delays they are facing when hiring staff from overseas as a result of the introduction of the new system.

Penningtons Solicitors LLP immigration partner Nichola Carter, a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association, who has wide experience in advising corporate clients on the risk issues inherent in the points based system, has this week been interviewed by both the Financial Times and BBC Radio 4's Today programme about her views on the implementation of the system as well as its successes and pitfalls.
