Setting up a sports park for the University of Surrey

We advised the University of Surrey on the establishment of Surrey Sports Park Limited, the company which manages the Surrey Sports Park. This is a multi-million pound facility owned by the University of Surrey and is one of Europe's premier sites for elite sport, physical activity, well-being and leisure.

Penningtons advised the university on the appropriate corporate structure for the company, taking into account such matters as the inter-relationship between the company and the university, corporate governance, funding and branding. We incorporated the company with suitable articles of association and prepared the management agreement setting out the rights and responsibilities of the company and the university towards each other.

Subsequently, we have acted for the company in setting up contractual arrangements for various licensees of the sports park facilities.
