Investigation into failed face and neck lift

We are reviewing the case of a lady who has had disappointing results from a face and neck lift (rhytidectomy and platysmaplasty).

The neck lift appears to have failed as she has droopy skin under her chin, predominantly on one side, and her jowls are reappearing. In terms of the face lift, she has raised, lumpy scarring that is causing itchiness, altered sensations and cold shooting pains across one side of her face.

We are considering whether her neck lift needs revision and her facial scarring could be improved. In our experience, many surgeons prefer to place the face lift incisions higher to hide the scarring in the hairline and to avoid the nerve damage apparently suffered by this patient. An independent investigation which will involve commissioning expert evidence to look into the standard of care received by this patient will now begin.
