Human rights claim in asylum case

A musician's asylum and human rights claim was dismissed and he faced being returned to his native Kenya, where he and his family had feared persecution.

Some eight years ago they had been actively involved with political opposition parties, fled to the UK and claimed asylum. It took the Home Office eight years to make a decision. In this time the political situation in Kenya had settled down to the extent that it was unlikely that our client would be at risk of persecution. However, he had made a new life for himself with his family in the UK. He was actively involved with his local community, and was developing his music career. The appeal succeeded on human rights grounds.
