Mark heads the travel law and travel sector teams at Penningtons. He is listed as a 'leader in his field' for travel law in the latest edition of Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession, where he is described as an 'approachable, professional and thorough' individual. His team primarily advises legal expenses insurers and their policy holders regarding compensation claims arising from accidents abroad, both in a claimant and defendant capacity. They also help travel insurers recover their insurance outlays and give advice regarding travel insurance policy wording and other litigation related matters.
In the aviation sector, Mark recently collaborated with the travel insurers of a well known UK based airline to set up a pan European legal network to handle legal expenses and personal liability claims pursued by both UK and foreign policyholders.
In addition, Mark advises tour operators and hotels regarding terms and conditions, supplier contracts and other travel litigation matters. He is a fluent Spanish speaker, having previously represented Spanish nationals and companies both in Spain and the UK. Mark is a regular commentator in the travel and legal press, including the Solicitors Journal and the Travel Trade Gazette. He has also represented Penningtons at domestic and international travel insurance conferences as a guest speaker. He is based in Godalming but frequently works out of our London office.
