Chris is a member of the private client team. He qualified in 1975 and has been a partner at Penningtons since 2000. Chris covers all aspects of private client law, but with an emphasis on high-level international and cross-border estate and tax structuring, taking into account both taxation, and issues of control and succession. His clients come from all parts of the world, particularly India and the United States. Tax and succession issues in relation to family businesses are a particular interest, and he is Chair of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) Family Business Special Interest Practice Group. He was Chair of the STEP City of London Branch for eight years, and remains on the committee, and is a member of the City of Westminster and Holborn Law Society Revenue Committee.
He has written and lectured on trust and tax topics in the UK, the US and in Europe, and is a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Private Client Practitioner.
Chris has been recognised for the last three years in the 'Leading lawyers' section in Citywealth magazine's guide to the most highly regarded figures in private wealth management.
