Geoff joined Penningtons as a partner in 2000 and has for many years worked exclusively in the field of professional regulation. A major part of his work has been in the healthcare sector with an emphasis on veterinary and pharmacy law and practice. A number of his cases in the Administrative Court and in the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council have been reported and become legal authorities which are referred to regularly by practitioners in this field. Another important part of his practice is the work he undertakes for the Solicitors Regulation Authority as one of their panel solicitors. He also sits as a legal assessor.
Geoff is involved on a daily basis in the investigation and preparation of professional conduct cases, advocacy before disciplinary/fitness to practise committees and, when these arise, has conduct of judicial reviews and statutory appeals in the Privy Council and Administrative Court. He also regularly assists regulatory bodies with drafting protocols and advising on policy and constitutional matters.
The Legal 500 has referred to Geoff as 'exceptional' while he is ranked in band 1 by Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession and described as being 'lauded by clients for his excellent presentation skills'.
