Sarah heads the corporate tax team at Penningtons which is ranked in tier 2 for the South in Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession and The Legal 500, with Sarah listed as a leading individual. Her team advises clients across our three offices in London, Hampshire and Surrey. She joined Penningtons from a top 20 law firm in 2007, becoming a partner in 2008, and has specialised in all areas of corporate and property taxes since qualifying in 2000.
Sarah regularly advises clients in relation to corporate and commercial tax issues and drafts and negotiates all tax documentation for corporate acquisitions and disposals. She has expertise in setting up partnerships and other joint venture structures, advising on the tax consequences of each structure, particularly in relation to stamp duty and stamp duty land tax. Sarah is also experienced in employment tax issues, providing advice in relation to termination payments, IR35 and Managed Service Company issues, and has expertise in all property tax issues, including VAT, stamp duty land tax and capital allowances.
She is a member of the VAT and Duties Sub-Committee of the Law Society and the St Paul's (London) Chapter of the VAT Practitioners Group, a regular speaker at external conferences and author of specialist articles. The latest edition of Chambers praises her 'efficiency, speed, attention to detail and accuracy'.
