Penningtons Solicitors LLP is delighted to announce that Grainne Barton, who is recognised as a leader in the clinical negligence field, has joined the firm's highly regarded clinical negligence team as an associate.

Grainne joins from Charles Russell, where she jointly headed the clinical negligence department. She has previously worked at Parlett Kent and Alexander Harris. Her particular areas of interest are birth injuries, inquests and cases against private hospitals where she has been involved in leading cases such as Khazar Iqbal v Whipps Cross University NHS Trust and Touche.

Grainne will work out of Penningtons' Godalming and London offices. Her recruitment continues the expansion of Penningtons' clinical negligence team which advises clients nationwide from its three offices. Grainne's appointment also adds another individual who is recognised as a key player in the market place to the Penningtons team. Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession ranks Grainne highly and describes her as a 'charismatic, intelligent figure who works tirelessly to get the best results for claimants'. Chambers also recognises all three partners within Penningtons' clinical negligence team – Tim Palmer, Philippa Luscombe and Ali Appelboam-Meadows – as leaders in their field.

Philippa Luscombe commented: "We are delighted that Grainne has decided to join the clinical negligence group at Penningtons. Her experience and reputation will be a real asset both internally and in terms of strengthening our reputation as a leading clinical negligence team in the UK."

Penningtons is ranked in band 1 for clinical negligence in both the Chambers and Legal 500 directories and is accredited by APIL. Following Grainne's arrival, the team now has six AvMA / Law Society clinical negligence panel members and a total of 15 fee earners firmwide.
