Sarah Cardew, a partner in Penningtons' Basingstoke office, has received an important Law Society appointment which will result in her providing commentary to the Government on proposed changes to the VAT legislation.
Sarah has been appointed to the VAT and Duties Sub-Committee of the Law Society's Tax Committee which is made up of nine specialist tax lawyers whose role is to consider and comment upon VAT issues and draft legislation as well as to act as a liaison between the Law Society and the Treasury.
After joining Penningtons in 2007 from Berwin Leighton Paisner, Sarah became a partner in 2008. She leads the firm's corporate tax practice across Penningtons' three offices and specialises in all areas of corporate, property and employment tax issues. She is a regular speaker at external conferences and author of specialist articles.
Commenting on Sarah's appointment, Franco Bosi, who heads Penningtons' business services team, said: "We're delighted that Sarah has been recognised in this way. Her appointment to the Law Society's committee is an enormous accolade and testament to Sarah's ability to combine excellent technical skills as a lawyer with a strong commercial awareness. I'm sure she'll make a significant contribution to the committee."
