Penningtons Solicitors LLP is delighted to announce that Martyn Gowar will join the firm's private client practice group, part of the Private Individuals Division, as a part-time consultant from 1 May 2008. Martyn will be based in the Godalming office of Penningtons and will build on his local connections in the area.
Martyn joins from Lawrence Graham LLP, where he has happily and successfully practised for almost 40 years, starting as an articled clerk in 1967, qualifying in 1970 and moving up the ranks to become a partner from 1973 to 2006 (taking on the role of Senior Partner from 1997-2002). He became a consultant in 2006.
Martyn specialises in estate planning, tax law and probate in the UK and relative jurisdictions, and in general trust law. His many professional memberships include: Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and a (founding) member of STAR (Solicitor for Tax and Revenue Group). He has considerable expertise in succession planning for family businesses and the negotiation of family difficulties and disputes. He has acted for many charities on a wide range of matters.
