Penningtons appoints four new partners

Penningtons Solicitors LLP is pleased to announce the appointment of four new partners. Sarah Cardew (corporate tax), Peter Kidd (corporate) and James Nadin (commercial property), who were all previously associates with the firm, and Peter Massey (construction), who was previously at AMEC plc, have joined the partnership. These appointments bring the total number of partners at Penningtons Solicitors LLP to 55.
Sarah Cardew has specialised in corporate and property taxes since qualifying in 2000. She joined Penningtons from Berwin Leighton Paisner in 2007 and advises clients on corporate and commercial tax issues, including tax documentation for corporate acquisitions and disposals, as well as on all aspects of property tax, including VAT, stamp duty land tax and capital allowances. She is also experienced in employment tax and advises on termination payments, IR35 and managed service company issues. Sarah is a regular speaker at external conferences.
Peter Kidd advises public and private companies, institutional investors and fund managers on all aspects of corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, group restructurings, joint ventures, fundraisings and corporate governance. He joined Penningtons as a trainee solicitor in 1996, qualifying in 1998. Peter is involved in a wide range of industry sectors including hotel and leisure, healthcare, construction and property. He also has extensive experience in onshore and offshore investment vehicles connected with property management and investment and is a participant in INREV (European Association for Investors in Non-listed Real Estate Vehicles).
James Nadin joined Penningtons in 1997 as a trainee solicitor, qualifying into the firm’s Commercial Property Division in 1999. He specialises in all aspects of non-contentious landlord and tenant law, freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals, site development and property advice for charities. He has a proven track record in advising both institutional and private clients on complex and time critical legal issues. James presents seminars on a range of property-related subjects and is a regular contributor to publications on all aspects of property law.
Peter Massey joins Penningtons’ Commercial Property Division from AMEC plc, where he was a senior legal advisor. He qualified with Denton Wilde Sapte in 2000. He comes from an engineering background and specialises in projects, engineering and operations. Peter will now be focusing on the expansion of Penningtons' construction practice and the development of large scale project work across the firm. His practice covers all aspects of construction and projects, including advising on deal structures, risk analysis and insurance. He also has extensive experience in the PFI/PPP arena and this has led to appointments in some of the highest profile PFI/PPP schemes in the UK. He has acted for both the public and private sector and continues to work in the health, leisure, education and housing sectors.
