Penningtons shortlisted for training initiative of the year in the 2009 Legal Technology Awards

06/01/2009
Penningtons Solicitors LLP is one of just three law firms shortlisted for training initiative of the year in this year's Legal Technology Awards. The Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in the provision and implementation of technology solutions for the benefit of legal practice.

Our nomination relates to a training programme we have introduced to accompany the roll out of our new InterAction Client Relationship Management (CRM) system. The programme uses a combination of traditional classroom-based learning and a leading-edge online training platform. Working with our specialist provider, Tikit, our IT and business development teams have created a hybrid training programme intended to ensure the success of the CRM roll out and to help our staff get introduced to the system in the most effective and time efficient way.

For us, the online aspect of the training programme was innovative in the extreme. Previous training had been classroom based, structured and teacher led. By empowering staff to run their own training programmes through flexible training packages, training becomes employee-led and therefore more engaging and attractive for staff. In addition, the online nature of the training means that the programme is fully measurable.

David Raine, chief executive, comments: “This approach has been truly revolutionary for us and we believe that the success of this project indicates the future of our broader training activities. By combining traditional classroom based learning with a bespoke online learning experience, we’re giving users the best of both worlds. They get personal attention from a teacher in the classroom, as well as flexible, hands on practice at their workstation."

Penningtons is also pleased to support Tikit in its nomination for Online Product of the Year – Tikit Online Learning for InterAction, where we feature by way of case study.

The judging process for the Awards takes place over two stages on 29 January 2009. Firstly, the judges review the submissions to decide which of the shortlisted organisations they think should win and which should be highly commended. Secondly, there is a 'Dragon's Den' style presentation process.
